We couldn't have picked a nicer day to do her yearbook photographs (her full blown senior session will be done later this fall). When we first discussed her senior session and what she wanted to do, a waterfall was in the mix. With the Midwest feeling more like Fall and less like Summer, we changed the plans quickly.

Yesterday I took some time out to photograph a beautiful flower that reminded me to the Tennessee Volunteers. But I will let you be the judge of that one.

Wedding Planning - Shoes

This one is all about one of my favorite things...SHOES! If you ask Mr. S I have too many, if you ask me, I don't have enough.

So one of the first things that came to mind when Mr. S popped the question with e beautiful sapphire ring, I HAVE to have blue shoes! Now granted, I do already own a pair of kick butt blue heels, but I needed something new and girly...after all these are my wedding shoes. But I did want to be able to wear them again...that was a MUST.

So after setting a budget, let's face it, Mr. S. told me you aren't spending more than X amount on shows for the weding (because he knows I LUST after THE pair of Manolo Blahniks. But spending almost $1,000 on a pair of shoes, I would be afraid to wear them honestly...and crushed when something happened to them, so what was the point?

So my mom and I set out Saturday with two things in mind...to find THE dress (which I placed the order this past Saturday for) and to find THE shoes. Honestly, I knew the shoes were going to be harder than then dress. Off to Norstrom's we went. I came across these beauties:

They are a bit brighter in person which is the perfect colour that I was going for. Plus they are fun. How can you not love a fun shoe? I think I will wear them again, at least I hope I will. And after finding those with a 4 1/4" heel, I knew I would have to have flats for the reception. Even though Mr. S. is a dashing 6'5" tall, my feet would be dead after ALL day in those beauties no matter how comfy they are. So as I looked around again I found these cuties:

Can I just say that I love the rose on these. So perfect. Plus the grey has a blue sheen coming off of them which makes them even more to die for and I know that I will wear these again.

Feeling proud of myself that I cam under budget for my dress, and BOTH pairs of my shoes my mom and I left Nordstroms happily and drifted off to find something yummy...oh look a candy kisok. YAY!

Client Question: Why Do I Post About Personal Things?

i was emailed recently (actually today) and a client asked me why I post about personal things. They did not give a certain post or something that I had said, which is fine, just an in general question.

I am very happy to answer this one. I post about more then my photogaphy on here because that is just me. My clients do deserve a look into my life, because they invite me into some of the most important occasions and days that they will ever experience.

I am thrilled to share my life with my clients, just as they share their lives with me. Photography is so much more then showing up with a camera and taking pictures.

I have cried and laughed with these people. One of the most amazing feelings I have ever had is when I walked into a bridal room recently with camera in tow and the bride giggled with excitement and ran over to give me a hug. It is a very personal experience for me to photograph a wedding, I hope for myself and my clients.

A maid of honor said it best in her toast (see how personal this stuff gets for me):

This is me opening up to you just as you have opened up to me. I knwo I am FAR from perfect. That is one thing I will NEVER claim to be. But this is me. I can't change that and I hope none of my clients would want me to.

That is the main reason that I am cutting back my weddings this year...to be more creative and do more city/landscapes. My other passion is my zest for life. I demand to live it to the fullest. Take those risks that others may not take, strive everyday to improve yourself and laugh 100 times more than you will ever think of crying. It doesn't matter what others think...all that matters is when it is all said and done, you aren't sitting there asking yourself, what if...because no matter if you failed or achieved beyond your wildest dreams you know you did it. This doesn't mean that I live an extreme and wild life, but I don't take one second, one choice, one decision for granted because all of those can be life changing.

Wedding Planning - Wedding Websites Need Your Opinion

I am thinking about starting a wedding website. But I don't know if it will be used all that well.

Plus getting Mr. S to contribute maybe like pulling teeth on this one. Don't get me wrong, his opnions and his wants during this planning process are very much there. Heck, he is even in charge of the reception (God help me on that one). But actually writing on online his side of the story about the proposal, etc., not sure he is all up for that.

So I am torn, do I invest the hour or so to get this set up and going or not? Did you create one and if so did your guests find it helpful?

Wedding Planning - Colour Theme

What sets the tone of your wedding? The colours of course. With being a fall bride I think I maybe going against the grain a little bit, but heck…it is our wedding so we shall do what we want.

When it came to choosing colours, we tossed a few ideas around. Red of course was a front runner since it is my favorite colour, heck we even discussed a snowball wedding (all the girls in white) which I think are beautiful! But Mr. S told me something that was precious, yes just precious, that he wanted to wear a blue vest to match the sapphire in the ring he gave me. Alright, hands down that was it. When he gets sentimental and a touch romantic he knows he will get his way. So we had one colour…sapphire blue.

But what would be the other colour? Something simple and not pop out at you hello, I am here and take notice. I wanted to maintain a subtle classiness about it all. So I started thinking about what kind of flowers my bridesmaids would carry. That way maybe I could play off of that and that is when it hit me. I wanted to flowers to be the wow factor with their colour. So a pewter it is.

Mr. S will have a sapphire blue vest, I know the groom is suppose to wear the white vest but this is his wedding to and if a sapphire blue vest is what he wants, a sapphire blue vest is what he is getting. The groomsmen’s will be in the pewter vests. My bridesmaids will have pewter dresses and my matron of honor will have a pewter dress with a sapphire blue sash.

I am starting to get really excited about all of this if you can’t tell. Giggle. I just hope the bridesmaids will all like the dresses I am looking at.

Monday started out as a very good day. As of 11:52 am CST on Monday, Wild Itish Rose's business page on Facebook has 500 likes. This is huge to me. Five hundred is a big number.

Wedding Planning - First Thing Bought!

When you ask a photographer what makes a wedding, one thing always comes to mind...is all the details that the bride and others puts into the day. These little details are never overlooked by photographers, or anyone else that sees them for that matter.

So what was my first purchase for my big day in October, of course it was a little detail! I found this amazing detail on etsy that I adore and think every bride should indulge in since it is only $25 and can be used again. How can you not love that?

It is the silver wedding dress hanger...best part, it is personalized, in several different ways. Here are just a couple examples:

Wedding Planning - He Liked It So Much He Put a Ring On It

So here I am...a bride to be. How exciting is that?? For those of you that don't know, my boyfriend popped the question at 4:30 am on December 28th before he was suppose to leave for work.

It was very sweet, romantic, intimate and ended up with taking the day off and enjoying it together.

Why the 28th? Well we have a funny little thing with the number 8 and since January 8th is the only Saturday before our wedding date that was his first choice. But, I am photographing Tony and Amy's wedding that day so the 28th it was. And to be honest, I don't think he would have been able to hold out until January 8th. Laugh.

He knew I wanted something different. And everything just fell into place when he presented me with this beauty:

Say hello to my little friend! It is a cushion cut sapphire in a diamond halo setting. I have to say that he did a damn good job. I am still beaming at the thought of being Mr. S (this is what we shall call him) wife.

Not all engagement rings have to be diamonds. I adore sapphires and a sapphire is more me than a diamond is. And hey, if it was good enough for Princess Diana and Kate Middleton, who am I to say no? Laugh. In all honesty, I was lusting after a beautiful sapphire engagement ring and Mr. S knew it. His mom loved it even more since his family is 100% British, yes I am engaged to a Brit, and her engagement ring was a sapphire since that is tradition in Britian. Who would have thought that one?

What 2011 Holds For Wild Irish Rose Photography

Big changes are coming to Wild Irish Rose Photography for 2011.

As previously posted, I am only accepting 13 weddings for the year. I am doing this to better serve my clients and balance my family life as well. It can be tricky to find a balance between the two and this is a good step in the right direction for me. My wedding packages will be changing at the beginning of the year so keep your eyes open for that.

Also, I am going to focus on high school seniors this year. I love photographing high school seniors. Capturing their personalities is so much fun for me. So I am going to structure packages or high school seniors and if you know any send them my way!

I am also taking a step back in family photography. I am not going to do too much of it this year. While I love children photography, I do want to put my energy towards weddings and seniors. I will take a very limited amount of families this year. So please feel free to inquire and if my month is not super busy, I am sure that I can make time for you but please be flexiable with me on your dates.

Boudoir photography is something that I have always enjoyed. I want to get into it more so I will be offering a special discount for my first three boudior sessions. I will post more on that later, but make sure to look out for it if you are in need of a boudior session. It is going to be a deal that you can't beat.

Finally, more blog posts of personal photography. That is going to be one of my New Year's Resolution. Not only to catch up on professional blogging but also to throw in some personal photography as well. New Logo

Well with all the change in my life, it was finally time to change my logo! I asked a friend, Ame Dickey, to help me out since she does this for a living...check out her wedding invites if you get a chance.

I asked for something that reflected me as a person, my work and tie it all togeether with a touch of elegance.

Lucky Number 13

I have had clients and others ask why I am capping next year's weddings to 13. There are a few reasons, so here they are.

I want to give my brides more attention. I adore photographing weddings and being invited into one of the most special days of your lives. But I do feel that you do need more attention from me. I want to process your images quicker and get them to you faster. How can you not love that?

I want to expand in two areas, high school seniors and couples. I would love to photograph more high school seniors. I am going to be offering a special on those, so if you are interested in my high school senior photography, please contact me! As far as couples, you don't have to be engaged, just in love. I adore capturing two people in a casual setting just enjoying themselves. 2011 will be groundbreaking for my style and the way I want to take my photography. No worries, there will be specials for my couple clients as well!!

I am also taking on one destination wedding a year! I am leaving for my 2010 destination wedding at the end of this month and am super stoked about it. I can't wait to post images with this wedding. It is going to be amazing and you are not going to want to miss being my 2011 destination couple.

Malana + Andy Married

I had the pleasure of sharing in Malana and Andy's at home reception. They were married in Florida and came home to celebrate with friends.

We started at the St. Louis Art Museum. Andy took Malana there for the first date. I loved getting some non-standard photos here.

Can you say to die for flowers? And of course, the waterfall.

I lvoe this image of Malana, such a beautful bride. And this moment, sigh.

When a groom can crack a bride up, I know everything is working well on that day!!

These next two images I just can't tell you which one is my favorite! I love how dreamy the first one is but the second just makes me smile.

Nikki + Mike Sneak Peak

Amy + Mike Married

Amy got ready just a few minutes from the Piper Palm House.

Mike and the guys met at a small airfield. I sent my second shooter, Matthew Jay, to meet them and grab a few photos.

Amy and Mike met at the ruins in Tower Grove for the first look.

After the first look we headed over to the City Museum but we arrived to someone pulling the fire alarm, so off to Gelateria Tavolini we went.

After the Gelateria, we went back to the City Museum for a few more photos.

Amy and Mike had allowed me to have an ample amount of time to share with them in order to capture some amazing photographs, so after the City Museum we went to a couple more areas to get more of an urban feel.

Amy and Mike had their beloved dog in the ceremony so it was only fitting we get a couple photos with him as well.

After all of that, we headed back to the Piper Palm House for the ceremony.

Have to love the rings!!

Looking Ahead...2011

2010 is proving to be a very busy one for Wild Irish Rose Photography. This is not a bad thing at all and I want to say thank you to each and everyone of my clients for inviting me into their lives and to share in one of the most important days of their lives.

Moving forward to 2011, I am capping the amount of wedding that I am taking part in so I can give my clients even more of a personal touch and attention. Moving forward with 2011 I am only taking 13 weddings for the entire year. It doesn't matter what month, etc.

I feel this will provide my clients with the attention and personalization that they need. I already have four weddings booked for next year which means I only have 9 spots remaining.

I know this is going to be a wonderful change looking ahead and I thank each and every one of you for understanding.

This question was raised because a client asked if they could use one of my photos for their profile pic. My answer is OF COURSE. I am so honored when my clients use the moments I have captured on Facebook.

So the answer is yes, feel free to use your photos on Facebook and other social network sites and no you aren't breaking your contract by doing so because you are still using them for personal use.

Malana + Andy Sneak Peek

How can I describe this couple...fun, amazing, lots of laughs only begins to give you an idea.

I had a lot of fun with Brittany and Jeff even though it was in the mid 90's and the humdity was pushing 80%. It takes an amazing couple to get out there in that weather to do their engagement session.

I had Brittany up on the sculpture (which later we found out is a big no no) and the next photo is Jeff getting her down. I love moments like these.

When I meet a bride and groom I always go through my contract and ask for questions. I am always open to answering questions via email, etc. I thought I would start featuring some question on my blog that I get from my clients. It is a great way to put some information out there for everyone.

One recent question was does the bride and groom get to see the unedited images.

The answer to that is no. My clients never see the unedited images. It isn't that they aren't great images, because they are. But you, as the client, pays me to take your images to a step above the "raw" image. I make them into what they are. I touch every single photograph before I give it to you. Insane, maybe...but again, that is why you hired a professional to capture your day.

I take pride in my editing and really try to creat a brand with my style of editing. My ultimate goal is for someone to look at my images and know exactly who took that photograph.

You pay for more then an unedited image...that is why you will never see that from me.

I knew Kate and her sister Erin in high school and when Kate contacted me to photographed her wedding I was thrilled.

Kate had an awesome bag for the day that was so sparkly. The moment I saw it I knew I was going to have to put the rings on it.

Kate had a bit of a vintage feel with her hair piece which I loved. And to those that know her weren't surprised that she was facebooking while her bridesmaids are getting ready.

We found two beautiful trees that day that had to be included. I love trees...to me they represent strength and widsom.

I love when a groom picks up his bride's train! It is so sweet.

When I was scouting locations for Kate and Brian's wedding I saw this wall with the door and knew I had to get them there. And to top it all off with all of the storms getting ready to push through, the wind caught her dress just right. Yes, I love it.

They were married at The Falls in Columbia, IL and it is a beautiful location. I am digging this kiss photo.

One of my favorite moments in the entire day is the first dance and the father/daughter dance. I love when no one focuses on me and take in the moment for what it is...something that is precious and is shared between just the two people on the dance floor. Kate was nerrvous before the dances, but from these images, you can't tell one bit.

Thank you Kate and Brian for letting me be a part of your big day. I truly enjoyed myself.

What Do You Do When You Aren't Behind The Lens?

I had a client ask me that the other day and there are so many waysto answer it that I thought it would make a good post.

Where should I begin because there aren't enough hours in the day nor enough days in the year.

First and foremost, I work. I adore my career and I don't think I am anywhere close to giving it up because I would truly miss being a part of what I do. I am in construction and currently I am working on a huge project that will finish in 2012. I love working on projects and when they are complete driving by and knowing that my handprint is on that. It gives me such a great feeling of accomplishment in my life.

Next up is sports. Both as a specator and participant. I love to watch and join in on the fun when it comes to snowboarding. Granted, I hate the cold, but when you are cutting down a moutainside with the sun on you, that is just a little slice of heaven for me. Another peaceful sport that I throughly enjoy is SCUBA diving. There is nothing else like it in the world and I just adore it. It doesn't matter if it is in a quarry with HUGE catfish and spoonbills or in the open water with beautiful reefs, manta rays and sharks. When all you listen to is the sound of your own breath and take in that beauty 70' below the waves...that is darn near perfection.

Since two of my favorite sports to take part is something you really can't do so much in the St. Louis, Missouri, area...you guess it. I love to travel. In the past few years my travel habits are changing. I don't go on vacation to relax and sit on a beach. I go on vacation to explore the area and see the culture. One of my favorite places is Mexico. The culture, the people, the beauty, the weather...all of that together just makes me smile.

I also enjoy a good evening out a great resturant. It doesn't have to be the new trendy spot in town, it just has to be someplace different with amazing food. I am a little bit of a foodie and enjoy trying new things. Without new things, life would be bland.

So that is just a little insight of some of things that I truly enjoy when I am not behind the lens of my camera.

Part VIII

People are usually vertical, which is no doubt why vertical photographs are referred to as being in "portrait" mode. But nine times out of ten, when I see someone taking a photo of another person with a point-and-shooter, they're holding the camera horizontally. If you really want to capture the scene around a person, or capture a large group of people, then "landscape," or horizontal mode, is appropriate. But if you want to feature one or two or even three people in an image, consider turning your camera vertically and framing the image to take advantage of your subjects' natural orientation. Of course, if you have only a moment and aren't comfortable holding the camera vertically, go ahead and shoot with your camera held the way you're used to and allow plenty of room around your subject so you can crop the image later.

Part VII

The smaller your camera, the harder it is to set the controls quickly, even if you know what you want. Fortunately, camera makers have come up with the clever notion of Scene modes, which group together related settings into a single simple button. Most cameras have Scene modes for everything from Beach to Sunset. One great Scene Mode is Museum mode, which turns off the flash and any sounds the camera makes, so you can quietly take pictures inside a church or museum, or at a performance. Some cameras have this while others don't, so if you are in the market for a camera...that maybe one option you may want to check into.

You need to experiment a little with the Scene modes, though. Most cameras Fireworks mode, for example, forces a very slow shutter speed, making it impossible to capture clear images without a tripod. When photographing fireworks, the Nighttime Landscape mode preferable if you don't have access to a tripod.

Choked Up....

There are always those weddings that I am so lucky to be a part of that I get goosebumps and sometimes feel a lump in my throat from the love and joy thatI am in the presence of. I truly have an amazing job!

Last nite's wedding was the wedding of my niece. My brother is 20 years my senior, so she is only 3 years younger then me. We have been very close, even more so as adults. And as for my brother and I, we are the closest of all four of the kids. So I knew this day was going to be over the top for me...no matter where the wedding was or what the bride was wearing but this one got me all choked up.

When my brother walked my niece down the aisle...wow! All I could do is smile and I was thinking alright I got this. I went through the day....the ceremony, the formals, the location session and onto the party!

The first dance was amazing and they chose a song that I haven't heard used as a first dance song before but I adored it. My niece's groom had permasmile! Here it is:

I amgoing to only be taking on two weddings per month for 2011 and am not currently taking on Friday weddings for the year.

2010 is going to be jammed packed for me and as I do look forward to an amazing year, I am also looking forward to shifting gears in 2011 and not only focusing on wedding photography but also focusing on breaking into the high school senior market as well.

Part VI

Most point-and-shoot cameras ship from the factory set to capture low-quality images. This allows the puny card they all come with to capture a few images. Before you get serious about taking photos, your best bet is both to set the image resolution (the number of pixels your camera captures) to the maximum and to do the same for the image-quality setting. This will make your images much larger and better-looking—especially if you print.

Still, you'll need a larger memory card than the one that came with your camera. With the low price of digital film cards these days, you should probably buy two so that you have a spare in case something goes wrong or you accidentally leave one in your computer.

Another quick tip: Be sure to check how many high-quality images will fit on your card before you go on a trip. It is amazing how many people I've run into in remote locations who are suffering because they don't have enough flash cards to capture all the images they want to keep of their trip of a lifetime.

Part V

How often have you watched thousands of flashes go off at a night-time sporting event? Was one of them yours? It's pretty obvious that those flashes aren't really helping anyone get a better picture, but did you know that leaving the flash turned on may in fact prevent you from getting a good photo?

It can, because if your flash is on, the camera will wait to recharge the flash each time you press the shutter. First, that means a longer lag until you capture your image, and therefore more of a chance that you'll miss the action you're trying to get. And second, most point-and-shoot cameras will not operate in continuous mode with the flash turned on. So you'll get only one chance for your image instead of being able to fire off a burst of images.

The lesson: When you're in a large venue at night, turn off your flash.

A little bit about one of my interests. I am a huge animal lover. I have four, two dogs and two cats. All have been adopted from shelters or rescue groups. So of course I am a big supporter of my local shelter.

I just couldn't get enough of Amie. She wanted different and I sure hope I gave her it. As you can see we did a mixture of urban and the waterfall and yes, I love the waterfall photos.

She was such a trooper because I walked into the water first looked back and said, "It's cold". I got two more steps in and looked back again and said "Really cold". But nothing stopped this girl. Mind you, it was in the 90's just a couple days before we had this session. When we were shooting it was in the low 60's.

Yes, she is a Yankees fan, but not everyone can be perfect. It could be worse, she could have shown up wearing a Cubs shirt.

This was the final image of the session and she is soaked! I puffy heart my clients!!!

Just Breathe

I got a call yesterday from my niece (don't worry, she is only 3 years younger than me) and I just couldn't stop laughing.

Her flower girl's brother had taken scissors to his sister's hair and cut off all her bangs...two weeks before the wedding.

Some of my clients and readers may ask why do I find this so funny. Because it is something that little kids do. My brother is 20 years my senior (now the niece thing makes sense doesn't it) and I took scissors to my bangs and cut them to the scalp just a week before I was a flower girl in his wedding. My husband took scissors to his hair just a week before he was a ring bearer in a wedding. Kids do this and if you have a child in your wedding party that does this, don't freak out. To every problem there is a solution. It may not be in vision that you first had, but you can make it work.

First off with little boys it is much easier. They are fine with very short hair. My husband was known for his blonde curls and when his teacher called him goldilocks, his curls have never made an appearance ever again. He rolls with a high and tight.

For your flowergirl it is probably going to come down to buying a headpiece. It may not be the look you were going for but neither was a flowergirl with no bangs.

Just breathe and remember every problem has a solution. The phone called ended with a thanks and I love you for getting me through this one. Just be on your toes at all times.

Sara and Andy were up for anything so we started off in Tower Grove Park since Spring is amazing in St. Louis and we had a lot to work with. How can you not trees with blossoms??

I wanted to toss a bit of urban into it as well so off to Grand we went. I love sunflare and am making a point to use more of it in my work. Plus that fountain...swoon. Once the light is gone it gets a little tougher to photograph and they were such troopers on the fountain shot.

Were we a part of someone's life when their dream came true or were we there when their dream died. Did we keep trying to get in? As if we were somehow destined to be there or did the shot take us by surprise. Just think, you could be a big part of someone elses life, and not even know it.

Part IV

Do you want your camera to be faster? Prefocus!

All cameras are slowest when they've been turned off or idle. With point-and-shoot cameras, waiting for the camera to warm up can make taking a photo feel nearly glacial. But if you not only have the camera on but can prefocus in advance (by holding the shutter button half-way down and letting the camera focus on your subject), then when you snap the shot, you'll get the fastest possible response. With most point-and-shooters, the focus indicator will stop blinking when you're good to go.

One trick is to remember that focus is related to distance. For example, sports photo pros know that if their subject isn't in position when they're getting ready they can prefocus on something at the same distance as where their subject will be. Then they can take the image as soon as the subject appears.

I had the pleasure of photographing Sara and Andy's engagement photos yesterday evening and I couldn't have asked for a better evening.

A little backstory behind this photo. I like to throw in a STL landmark when possible so since we were already in the area off to the Fox we went towards the end of the session. I had Andy do a practice dip with Sara and while the practice went well the actual dip didn't. Which was 100% fine with me because it led into moments like this one.

Hold your camera like you mean it!!

By far the largest source of trouble with digital photos is camera motion. Holding your camera still is essential, especially with point-and-shooters, which take some time to focus and capture an image. When you see pro photographers shooting, you'll notice that we hold the camera carefully, keeping it pressed against our eye. That isn't just so we can see through the viewfinder. It keeps the camera stable so that we can get sharp images. But often if you watch non-pros, you'll see them waving their cameras about at arm's length. If you're holding your camera in one hand or at arm's length, you're much less likely to get a sharp photo than if you're holding it close to you with both hands. If your camera has a viewfinder, use it when you can.

Holding the camera against your forehead will stabilize it. And if you keep your elbows against your sides, then you'll have a full "triangle" of stability and the best chance for a sharp image. Even if your camera doesn't have a viewfinder, you can hold it carefully in both hands with your elbows against your sides. Many current-model point-and-shooters are available with image stabilization built in. This isn't a substitute for good technique, but it can certainly help make up for the difficulty of holding a small camera steady, particularly if you're on a moving vehicle or outside on a windy day.

LaTasha and Carlos had a candy buffet and honestly, I don't think I have ever seen someone happier than Carlos when they told him about it.

Let me give you some background on Carlos. He is a chef that loves rich and amazing foods. We had a great conversation about this during the engagement session. One thing he, Julia Childs and I all agree on...you can never have too much butter.

Part II

Before I go into the tips and little secrets of how to use your point and shoot camera to produce better photos there is one thing that I am going to recommend...HIGHLY recommend and I know you hate doing it.

READ THE MANUAL.

No, I am not kidding and no you aren't going to figure it out as you go along. They include a manual with cameras today because your camera is capable of so much. So yes, take an hour or two, sit down with your manual and camera and get to reading.

You should have an understanding of what each switch or button on your camera does, even if you only learn which ones never to press. You should know what each symbol in the viewfinder and display panel is telling you. Your camera can tell you a lot and the more you know how to speak it's language the easier it is going to be to operate.

I know this isn't probably the post my readers were hoping for on this topic, but it is the most important tip that this series is going to have!

Now Offering Albums!

Yesterday I was really excited to find for FedEx to drop off my first sample album, I am going to be offering two albums, one leather and one photo cover.

Well, this is the photo cover album that was delivered yesterday and all I can say is WOW! I am in love.

What To Get the Groomsmen?

This can be a tricky one. Your bridesmaids are easier....jewelry, flip flops and a clutch can be exactly what your bridesmaids need.

But for the guys are you at a loss? Remember, these are the guys that have been friends with your groom for a big part of his life. Treat them with the same respect that you treat your ladies that will be standing beside you on the big day.

One groomsmen gift that my husband got that he loved was a Titleist ball hat with his last name embroidered on the side. Of course the plan was for all the guys to go golfing a couple days before the big day but a hurricane blew through.

THe trick is to get something that will make the guys feel appreciated and that they will use in the future. How many flasks can a man own?

I thought I would upload a few more photos from LaTasha and Carlos' engagement/newlywed session. Why do I say newlywed...because these were taken the Wednesday before they said I Do.

Being from St. Louis but now living in Texas they wanted to do some photos at the Arch and to be honest, LaTasha is THE reason I bought my fisheye lens. So I could get her the amazing Arch photo, but wow...that sky. STELLAR!

I have to admit that this was one of the most colourful sessions that I have ever photographed. I just love the door in the right photo.

We started in a parking garage due to the simple fact that is was suppose to rain this evening but we lucked out. We went for a more urban look due to the fact that their wedding will be in Innsbrook...can't wait!

Got to love getting up close and personal. This is one of my favs from the session.

The moment before the kiss...always stoked when I am able to capture this moment. Oh and what is that, yes, that is the Arch...hello new lens.

Like I said we though it was going to rain so we were thinking of creative ideas. This is one of my favs from the Metro ride we went on...notice the reflection. I like seeing my couple's so natural.

Spring is here. Or at least that is what we were hoping for with the beautiful weather this past week, but instead we got mid 40's. It could have been worse though, all week long the weather was calling for rain.

Courtney and Patrick were up for about anything and with no rain we basically stuck to out guns but threw in a little something for Patrick...Busch Stadium.

This was one of the last stops of our session for a reason...see the beautiful dramatic lighting on the Stadium...love!!

Pricing Change

My prices are about to change for 2011.

I will only have three packages avaliable but all three packages will include a second shooter! How exciting is that?

My top two packages will now include albums. I am very excited for this new addition and what it means for my brides.

Even though my prices are going up, I worked hard to try and keep everything very reasonable. My packages will start at $1500 and go up to $2500. And as always, you can build your own package from my a la carte menu. But keep in mind, that you get more bang for your buck when you choose a package. You can save up to $950.

I am ordering a album for my brides to look over during consults, so as soon as that comes in (should be about two weeks) than my price increase will take effect.

Until than, if you are a 2011 bride and would like to book one of my packages and add on an album later from my a la carte menu, I suggest we meet soon.

Welcome To The Family

I just purchased two big ticket items this past week and both have arrived to me safe and sound. I am thrilled about these two additions.

The first one (And biggest addition) is my Canon 5D Mark II Camera. This camera is insane. I just was able to snap off a few shots with it and wow. I have an engagement session coming up on the 20th and I can't wait to use it. The LCD screen is HUGE and there are just so many features. Plus I can record in HD, how sick is that?

The next addition is my fisheye lens. It is the Canon 15mm. Why would one get a fisheye here in the Lou? Have you seen that big metal structure next to the river that you see awesome shots of brides and grooms next to? Well, this bad boy will let me get the entire Arch into the frame. Yep, the entire thing! How awesome is that? I can't wait to use it. :)

As you can tell I am so stoked about the new additions and should really have taken some photos for you but I am battling my sinuses which is causing inner ear problems, which means that I can get dizzy pretty easy. No worries though, I went to the doctor yesterday and what he gave me seems to be working so hopefully back to 100& by Wedensday of next week. :)

Well Hello There....

It is me again, the woman behind the lens, Brigid. I am stepping out once more to give you more of a personal insight on who I am and what my life is about. These posts are just for my clients and readers.

I am super stoked about a concert coming to St. Louis and I was able to get pre-sale tickets for! How was I able to get pre-sale tickets, well because I am such a huge dork and I am a member of their fan club. I know insane, 30 years old and a member of the fan club. It reminds me of back in the day when I use to write fan mail to New Kids on the Block...Joey was my favorite. Hey, don't judge.

I have seen this bands many times over...how many, too many to count. It is so bad, I have concert shirts and even their concert posters framed and gracing the walls of my home. Sick right?

Who is the band? Of course the one and only...Dave Matthews Band! I have a super secret crush on Dave too. You know you do too. Come on just the way the man dances, how can you not adore that.

So in my "Happy place" there is Dave Matthews strumming his guitar, singing and dancing. That alone just makes me smile.

So here is to another poster that will be gracing my home and me grooving in the seats on June 16, 2010 at Verizon.

What Is Your Something Blue?

Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. That is a saying that many brides stay true to even though the years have passed and styles have changed. Are you needing ideas for your something blue? Here are just a few.

If you want to keep it basic, you can do a blue garter under your dress. I really like this one by Elegant Garter Shop on Etsy.

One of my favorite ways to work in blue is the shoes! Oh I just adore shoes and if you choose to go with a fun blue not only does it make for some cute photos but you can also wear them again for a fun nite out on the town. I am digging these by RSVP. They remind me of the $945 pair that Carrie wore in the Sex and the City movie.

Another idea that I like that some brides are doing is dying their crinoline blue. It doesn't take much to do it and it adds a touch of whimsy that everyone is going to love.

If you like sapphires, you could go with a sapphire wedding band as well. This was the option that I personally went with. A lot of jewelers are carrying wedding bands with coloured stones now. Here is just one from Shane Co.

If you want to have blue more in your theme, I adore peacock feathers. You can do so much with them. Use them as centerpieces, have your stationary designed with that theme, have them in your bouquets and even use them as your boutonnieres.

If you like topaz, how about a blue topaz ring for your right hand. I found this beauty at Kay.
